Obituary of Clifford Peter Monfils
Clifford P. Monfils, age 91, of Mayfield, N.Y. died on August 26, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
He was born July 8, 1927 in Luzerne, N.Y. the son of the late Clifford Sr. Monfils and Almeda Barrett Monfils. (Step father, the late Alvin Mike Trowbridge since 1934).
Cliff attended Mayfield schools, Gloversville business school, Herkimer/Utica and Tennessee Community Colleges.
He was employed at R.E. Bedfords Electrical Shop, G.E. Knolls atomic lab, Univac (Unisys) in Utica, Bristol TN and Blue Bell PA. He then was a part time Courier for Nathan Littauer Hospital until he retired due to health problems.
Cliff proudly served in the Merchant Marines, U.S. Army Artillery, and The National Guard.
Fishing and Snowmobiling were his favorite fun times.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Bell Monfils; a daughter Barbara Rich; three sons, Allan (Jan), Ronald (Susan), and Donald (Penny); 13 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren and many extended family members.
In addition to his mother, father and step father, Cliff was predeceased by a sister Almeda Kenyon.
Cliff attended The Cranberry Creek Community Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to the church at 112 Gilbert Road, Mayfield N.Y.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11a.m. to 12p.m., Thursday August 30th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville where a Funeral Service will follow at 12p.m. with Cliff’s son, Pastor Allan Monfils officiating.
Interment will take place immediately following the service at the funeral home at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
