Obituary of Helen M. Nadler
Helen M. Nadler, 93, of River Ridge Living Center, Amsterdam, NY, went to her eternal rest on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018.
Born on April, 19th, 1925, in Bombay, NY, she was the first child of the late Francis and Eva Tuper- Jock. Helen was educated in Amsterdam Schools and graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Helen spent many years employed by the Woolworth Store, which was once located in downtown Amsterdam, managing the food counter. She enjoyed making crafts and especially enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends. Helen was well known to Hagaman’s youth for the candy apples she made every Halloween. It became a tradition that was shared over several generations. In 1946 she married the love her life, Charles M. Nadler. It was an incredible union that lasted until his passing in 1979.
Helen is survived by her children, Bruce (Donna) Nadler of Homosassa, FL, Sheila (Fran) Pieniazek of Hagaman, NY, Yvonne (Doug) Bean of Newark Valley, NY, and Allan (Anne) Nadler of Hagaman, NY; her 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sister in-law June Jock; her extended family, Edward (Brenda) Leitt and their 3 daughters; and Barbara Flansburg and her 2 sons, as well as their families. Many more loving nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Helen was predeceased by her parents Francis and Eva Jock; her husband Charles; her longtime companion Henry Leitt; her brother Bernard “Bob” Jock, and his twin sister Blanche Haight.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 27th, 2017 at 9am at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 51 N Pawling St., Hagaman, NY 12086, with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as Celebrant. Interment will immediately follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery located behind the church. The family will receive visitors from 2-4pm on Sunday, August 26th, 2018 at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Contribution may be made to: Hagaman Volunteer Fire Dept., 126 S Pawling St, Hagaman, NY 12086, or St. Stephen’s Church, 51 N Pawling St, Hagaman, NY 12086.
