Obituary of Lucy Salerno

     Mrs. Lucy  Salerno , 91 , of Amsterdam, NY passed away August 11, 2018  at The E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.   Born on March 1, 1927 in Amsterdam, New York a daughter of the late William and Martha Arndt Delongchamp.  She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.   

  Lucy was a homemaker and took  care of her family for most of her life.  She married Joseph Salerno on   May 8th, 1949. He passed away on June 21, 1986.   She enjoyed reading, baking cookies and  above all spending time with her family.

       She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.

      Lucy is survived by her children, Mary Lou (Craig) Salerno Freis, of Greenacres, Florida, Rosetta Robbins of Amsterdam, NY, Michele (Skip) Walsh of Ft. Johnson, NY. and Joseph M. Salerno of Amsterdam, NY. One cherished grandson, Sean Michael Walsh of  Sprakers, NY and a step-grandson, Scott Paul Walsh of Ft Hunter, NY. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  Lucy was pre-deceased by three sisters and two brothers.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam NY, with Father Jeffrey M. L'Arche,  M.S. as celebrant.      Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft.
