My sincerest condolences to Mrs. Longhenry and daughters. Many years ago we were neighbors on Bleecker Street and our children walked to school together. I will remember many happy memories of the Longhenry's.

My deepest condolences to the family of John Longhenry. John was my fifth grade teacher at Oakland Avenue School and was one of my inspirations to pursue a career in education. John’s warm smile, support for all students regardless of their academic strengths and challenges, and instinctive understanding that the best teachers must first build connections with their students served as a strong model for several generations of the teachers he would mentor. Whenever we met in successive years, he would express his delight in my career and humbly accept my sincere thanks for the formative role he played in it. Thank you, John, for reading “Charotte’s Web” every day after lunch recess to a busy group of fifth graders who needed to hear your calm and reassuring voice. You made a positive difference in so many lives, a goal all educators strive to achieve. You made our little world a better place and for that, all of your students are eternally grateful.

My deepest sympathies for your loss... I have that long ago snapshot of a memory... of playing in the yard when just a wee little boy in 2nd grade!! The Big Ole White House on the corner, the forever green lawn. Even then, he was a Big Man, stood tall above us. It is a name I have always remembered... Mr. Longhenry. Again my warmest thoughts and sorrow for his passing. Sincerely Stephen H.Sparks

Megan: I am so very sorry. Your dad was a good man and was always very kind to me. I am sad that his last years were a struggle and I know the hardship it put on your mom and your family. Unfortunately, I am unable to make it up to say final goodbyes, but know that I will be thinking of you during this time. Please call me if you want to talk or just vent, I'll be here to listen. Love, Anna, Tim and the boys.
