Obituary of Carmella Morini

Carmella Morini, 89, of Amsterdam, NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Sunday, August 12th, 2018.

Born on April 24th, 1929, in Amsterdam, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Fortunata Rudolfo Pettorino. Carmella was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1947. She was employed as a pharmacy technician for the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 2002. She married Alfred J. Morini on September 13th, 1953. It was a union that lasted until his passing on October 11th, 2011.

Carmella loved to cook and bake. She was a devoted wife and loving friend to many. She had a fun loving personality and was a natural caregiver who was always concerned with the wellbeing of others and did what she could to help. She genuinely enjoyed looking out for those around her.

Carmella is survived by her sister Catherine Steele; her “niece” Paula (Jeremy) Hawkins; her “grandson” David Hawkins; her best friend Mary Doris DiCaprio; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.  Carmella is predeceased by her beloved husband; her parents; and her sisters, Rose Urban and Barbara Moore; and her brothers, Joseph Peters, Anthony Peters and James Peters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, August 16th, 2018 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 51 N Pawling St. Hagaman, N.Y. 12086, with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as Celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Michael’s the Archangel Cemetery, Widow Susan Rd, Amsterdam, N.Y. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 8 - 10am on Thursday prior to the service at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, N.Y.
