Obituary of Bernice S. Dickson
Mrs. Bernice S. Dickson, 101, of Schenectady, former resident of Arnold Avenue, Amsterdam, died peacefully on August 10, 2018. Born on September 20, 1916 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Anthony and Rose Kaszycka Syrylo.
A lifelong area resident, Bernice was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School. She was first employed with General Electric Company in Schenectady and then worked for Montco in Amsterdam as a seamstress. She was last employed by Coleco Industries in Amsterdam as a Quality Control Inspector. She also worked part time for Bottisti's Pizzeria for many years and was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
She loved spending time with her family for gatherings, vacations and shopping.
On November 18, 1945 she married Harold M. Dickson who passed away on August 17, 1976. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Mary Ann; and her siblings, Steve, Regina and Isabel.
Bernice is survived by two sons, Richard (Joanne) Dickson of Amsterdam and Robert (Kathy) Dickson of Florida; her daughter, Carol Dickson of Guilderland; three grandchildren, Scott, Michael and Richard, Jr.; two great granddaughters, Richelle and LeeAnn; a great great granddaughter, Amelia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Prayer Service will be offered on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:15a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15a.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. as celebrant. Private burial will take place in the family plot at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday, August, 15, 2018 from 5 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.
