Obituary of Paula Lynn Ferrara

Paula Lynn Ferrara (VanNostrand)

It is with great sadness that the family of Paula Lynn Ferrara (VanNostrand) announces her unexpected passing, on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the age of 57.

Paula, known as “Lynn” to close friends and family was born in Gloversville and was the daughter of Richard VanNostrand and the late Paula Langr VanNostrand. She is the sister of Richard VanNostrand II and sister-in-law to Kathy VanNostrand. She also was a cherished Aunt to their children Ross and Ben VanNostrand. Paula leaves behind two children, Christopher VanNostrand and Katelyn Eldredge and their spouses Jenai Cary and Brian Eldredge. In addition, she is survived by her five grandchildren, Christian Cary VanNostrand, Jadeyn Cary VanNostrand, Carter Cary VanNostrand, Brianna DeRosa and Harper Eldredge. At the time of her death, she was also survived by her dear friend John Gardner. Paula also leaves behind countless family members who all cared for her deeply.

Paula was a graduate of the Fulton Montgomery Community College’s nursing program and used her degree as a nurse to give back to the community as an infirmary nurse, teacher, and home health aide. She spent most of her nursing career as a nurse and teacher for Tryon Residential Center, where she made a lasting difference in countless lives. She was also a member of the American Legion and Girl Scouts.

Paula enjoyed spending time at her family’s camp in Northville on the Great Sacandaga Lake, listening to The Beatles and Bob Dylan, going to garage sales, saving animals and watching her grandchildren grow up.  She was a kind and caring person who always went out of her way to help others. She also had an amazing sense of humor and could always be counted on for a laugh or a unique present.

Visiting hours will be held at Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, NY on Tuesday August 14^th, from 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local humane society or animal shelter.
