Obituary of Joseph A. Vainauskas
Mr. Joseph A. Vainauskas, 67, of Golf Course Road, Amsterdam died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
A lifelong area resident, Joe was born on March 12, 1951 the son of the late George and Adella Cwiakala Vainauskas. He graduated from Perth Central School and later went on to graduate from college. Joe was employed for 47 years by Greno Industries in Scotia, NY; in 2016 he retired as the Vice President of Operations.
Joe will be remembered for his love of life and family. He enjoyed classic cars, golfing, bowling, gardening, cooking and taking care of his fish pond. He also had a great sense of humor. Above all, he had a heart larger than life and was willing to do anything for anyone. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Fallova Vainauskas; two children, Michael (Kristen) Vainauskas and Lisa (Brian) Gaetano; his granddaughter, who he adored, Liana; three brothers, Stephen W. Vainauskas, Robert J. Vainauskas, and Paul M. (Deborah) Vainauskas; an uncle, Bruno Cwiakala; one niece, Nicole; and nephews James, Tyler and Sam; and his work family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:15 at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with the Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche M.S. as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
