Obituary of Agnes M. Litchfield
Agnes M. Litchfield , 89, formerly of Hagaman, NY, and resident of the Sanford Home for Women, passed away Sunday July 29, 2018 at the River Ridge Living Center LLC, Amsterdam, with her loving family at her side.
Born in Lodi, New Jersey on January 6, 1929 a daughter of the late Louis and Louise Carabin DeZolt. She was a resident of New Jersey before coming to Hagaman, NY to raise her family. Agnes was employed at various mills and factories in New Jersey and New York. She had an amazing artistic ability in all of her work.
She enjoyed reading, going for walks, crocheting, talking with and blessing everyone she met, listening to music, playing bingo and above all spending time with family.
Agnes married Erwin "Lenny" Litchfield on November 27, 1948. He passed away on May 27, 2014. They were married 66 years before his passing.
She is survived by her four beloved children, Catherine (Craig) Hashagen of Amsterdam, Sue (Steve) Mack of Amsterdam, Allan (Mary) Litchfield of Midland, Michigan and Jerry (Sheri) Litchfield of Broadalbin, NY. Fourteen Cherished grandchildren, Stacy, Tony, Rich, Shawn, Krystal, Chris, Amy, Jenny, Jason, Nikki, Jade, Jeremy, Jenna and Emily. Twenty three great-grandchildren. Three siblings, Richard DeZolt of Florida, Charles (Patricia) DeZolt of Nevada and Rosemary Meola of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
We are saddened at the loss of our mom, grandma, great-grandma and “the Spunky Italian". We will all surely miss and never forget her warm smile and comforting hugs and kisses. We shall always be grateful for her blessings, the lessons we learned, her helpful nature and the time spent with her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday August 3, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 51 South Pawling St., Hagaman, NY. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Hagaman. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday August 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
