Obituary of Nona Mae Becker
Nona Mae Becker entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, March 29, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice of Gloversville.
A lifelong area resident, Nona was born on December 11, 1928 to Adelbert and Ethel Osborn and graduated from Fort Plain High School. Nona was employed by several local businesses including The Luxuary, Helmer, The Dugout and Liberty ARC.
She was united in marriage to Eugene D. Becker on April 24, 1948; they remained lovingly married for 60 years until his passing on November 17, 2008. She was also predeceased by her son Ronald Becker; her brothers Lawrence Osborn, William Osborn, and Richard Osborn; as well as one grandson Jeffrey Derrico and a “sister” Erma Croce.
Nona will be remembered for being an upbeat and loving person. She enjoyed jazz music, dancing, animals and helping people. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and vacationing in Maine with her husband.
Survivors include her daughter Gayle Campbell and her husband Don of Amsterdam; her grandson, Bret Derrico and his wife Lindsay; five great grandchildren Kaisa, Luella, Gabriel, Gianna, and Ezra; and her “sister” Lillian Hayes.
A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place on Wednesday, July 18 2018 at 11a.m. at Fort Plain Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of monetary donations, offer a gesture of kindness and love to a stranger or a friend to honor her memory.
