Obituary of Mildred Ann Buono

It is with great sadness that the family of Mildred Ann Buono announces her passing after a short illness.  Mildred, 82, of Alexander Drive, Rotterdam Junction passed away Friday July 6, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY with her loving family by her side.

Born on February 5, 1936 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ida (Frollo) Isabel.  Mildred and her loving husband of 41 yrs. William Lewis Buono, were married on August 13, 1967 until his passing on August 27, 2008.

She is survived by her daughter Karyn Cognetti of Ballston Spa NY, her son William Buono of Keswick VA, and her daughter Jacqueline Frank of Rotterdam NY.  She is also survived by two son-in-laws Marc and Kevin, a daughter-in-law Tonna, four grandchildren Dominic, Gianna, Jameson and Mikaela, and her brother Joseph.

Mildred was a long time resident of Rotterdam Junction and a member of Saint Margaret’s of Cortona Church for 59 years.  Mildred graduated from the College of Saint Rose in 1958 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.  She taught Business Administration for many years at Amsterdam High School prior to her retirement.  Before teaching, Mildred grew up and worked at Isabel’s Restaurant (family owned business) and carried on the traditional recipes with her own family.  She played the piano beautifully for many years.  Her true love was enjoying time with her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church on Main Street in Rotterdam Junction with Father Vincent Ciotoli presiding.  A private burial ceremony will be held for the immediate family following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mildred’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 313 Washington Street Ste 310, Newton, MA 02458 or the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Homes, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
