Obituary of Raffaela "Rae" Pinto
Mrs. Raffaela “Rae” Tambasco Pinto, 85, passed away Saturday June 30, 2018 at her home with her loving daughter at her side.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 18, 1932 a daughter of the late Frank and Elvira Sacchi Tambasco Marsicano and step-father, Fred Marsicano. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a1950 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Rae was employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Mohawk Sportswear Co. In Amsterdam for many years. She also worked for at time at the Rose Snell Golve Co. and retired from Breton Industries.
Mrs. Pinto was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was very active for many years in the church. She was a member of the Santa Sofia Society and was on the St. Michael’s Church Festa Committee for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Post #55 Ladies Auxiliary.
Raffaela married Lawrence A. Pinto Jr. on April 22, 1956. He passed away on September 9, 1999.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Theresa A. Pinto of Amsterdam and a son, Fred F. Pinto of Amsterdam. One sister, Mary Hawker of Virginia Beach, VA. A grandson, Fred L. Pinto of Amsterdam. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins along with special friends, Mike Ridgway of Amsterdam and Patrick DeCarlo of Ft. Johnson, NY and a special friend, the singing and dancing nurse Rachel Kulewicz. Rae was predeceased by a brother Nicholas Tambasco.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 7, 2018 at 9:15 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam, NY with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday July 6, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
