Obituary of Mildred E. Bollen
Mrs. Mildred E. Bollen, 91 of Stoner Trail Road, Tribes Hill , passed away Sunday June 24, 2018 at the EL Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam.
Born on August 15, 1926 in Stone Arabia, Town of Palatine, Montgomery County, NY. the daughter of the late George and Edna (Christman) Saltsman. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from the Canajoharie High School.
Mildred worked for many years with her late husband Cletus on their family farm in Palatine, and was later employed by Beech- Nut Foods of Canajoharie where she worked for several years until her retirement . Over the years Mildred enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, riding snow mobiles, and deer hunting. As a young woman she loved riding her Harley Sportster, Triumph Motorcycles and her BSA Motorcycle. At one time she was a proud member of the American Motorcycle Association.
Mildred was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, in Tribes Hill, and a member of the Catholic Daughters in Canajoharie.
On June 15, 1946, Mildred married Cletus W, Bollen, they remained lovingly committed to one another until his passing on October 23, 2008. Survivors include her son, Cletus B. "Clete" Bollen (Mary Lou Potts) of Tribes Hill; a sister, Edith Lansing of Rensselaerville, NY. Sister-in-law, Laverna Saltsman of Ft. Johnson, NY, Eleanor Saltsman of Stone Arabia, NY. Her Aunt, Gladys (Christman) Nagele of St. Johnsville, NY and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers Thalen, Arnold, Clyde, Leo Saltsman and her twin brother, Malcom Saltsman and sister, Thelma Boyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, 111 3rd Ave, Tribes Hill, NY with Father Christopher Welch as celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the Mass from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Sacred Heart Church, 111 3rd Avenue, Tribes Hill, NY, 12177, St. Jude's Children Hospital or to the Catholic Daughters in Canajoharie, NY.
