Obituary of Paul A. Kilmartin
Paul A. “Owl” Kilmartin, 60, of Division Street, Fort Plain, NY passed away June 5, 2018 with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born August 2, 1957 in Amsterdam NY and is the son of Betty A. Green Kilmartin of Fort Plain, and the late Roy L. Kilmartin Sr. whom passed away in 2003.
A lifelong area resident, Paul was a graduate of Canajoharie High School Class of 1976, and worked for many years as a maintenance man for the Twin Rivers Paper Mill in Little Falls. He was also an avid farmer.
On August 27, 1983 he was united in marriage to Brenda L. Smith. That union lasted nearly 25 years until her untimely passing on July 21, 2008 at the age of 49. He was also predeceased by Brenda’s parents, Chester and Esther Smith; two sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Ramos and Betty Crouse; and four brothers-in-law Richard Anderson Sr., Charles Smith Jr., William “Bill” Dolder, Kenny Crouse Sr.
He is survived by his three daughters Chrissy (Alfred Jr.) LaMont of Fort Plain, Kimberly (Joshua) Przestrzelski of Fort Plain, and Amanda (David) Hillsgrove of Little Falls and his godson Steven (Tessa) Clapper of Fort Plain; his grandchildren Jesslynn LaMont, Branden LaMont, Preston Vogle, Kendra Przestrzelski, Jaden Hillsgrove, Jordan Hillsgrove, David Hillsgrove, Jr. Paul’s beloved dog “MOOMOO.” His siblings, Roy (Mary) Kilmartin Jr., Linda Vosburgh, Tamie Anderson, Gloria (Joel Sr.) Knudsen.
Additional survivors include his sisters-in-law and brothers-in- aw Marlene Dolder, Gloria (Donald) Augustine, Donna (Robert) Waveris, Debra Smith, Cindy (David) Harrison, Donald (Donna) Smith, Kevin (Alberta) Smith, Dennis (Tina) Smith, Jeff Smith, Ishmal Ramos, Patricia (Gary) Crouse; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 12p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Nancy Ryan presiding. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at 10a.m. Burial will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife.
