Obituary of Donald James Neri

Mr. Donald James Neri Sr., 77, of Fultonville, NY, has gone to his eternal rest on Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born on February 19th, 1940 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Muriel Aiken and Dominick Neri. Donald graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, Class of 1958. He was employed for many years as a Teamster for Cardona & Sons Construction earning his retirement in 2003. He married the love of his life Patricia Ripley on April 25th, 1965. Donald enjoyed collecting coins. He truly loved to hunt and go fishing. He was an amazing cook who enjoyed making Italian meals for his family and close friends. Donald was a kind hearted, well natured individual who enjoyed helping those in need. He was quirky and funny, and loved to pull an occasional prank on his unsuspecting family. He will be fondly remembered by his family for being an incredible person who loved to have fun. Donald is survived by his wife Patricia Neri; his daughter Kathleen (Robert) Wood; his sons, Joseph (Stacy) Neri, Donald James (Alexandra) Neri Jr., and Michael (Raelyn) Neri; his grandchildren, Robert Jr., Brian, Elizabeth, and Kimberly Wood, Christine, Dominick, and Joseph Neri, and Alexis, Briella, and Mason Neri all from Fultonville NY; his brothers, Kenneth (Jim) Neri, Albany NY and James (Sandra) Weaver Knoxville Tennesee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; two aunts Bea Doesburg and Elmira Estelle; and many cousins. Donald was predeceased by his beloved parents Muriel Weaver and Dominick Neri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 22nd, 2018, at 11am at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 26 Broadway Street, Fonda NY, 12068 with Rev. Christopher Walsh as Celebrant. The Burial will take place in the spring at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Maple Avenue, Fultonville, NY 12072. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, January 21st, 2018 from 4-7pm at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Glen Volunteer Fire Department, 134 Auriesville Road, Fultonville, NY 12072.
