Obituary of Floyd E. Hart

Floyd E. Hart, 77, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born November 22, 1938 in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Floyd Harold and Martha Brockhum Hart. Floyd proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga during the Korean War. He was a leather worker by trade for many years working at various companies in the area. Floyd was the former Vice-President of AFL-CIO Local 1712 for many years and lobbied for the union all over the country. During his time in the Union Floyd earned numerous degrees and awards for his time and effort. Floyd enjoyed gardening in his greenhouse, fishing and golf, a game that allowed him to make many wonderful friends over the years. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years Bernice Reed Hart; sons Landel E. Hart of Gloversville, James Dean Hart of Tribes Hill and Floyd B. Hart of Gloversville; daughters Cynthia Vaillancourt (Kirk) of Gloversville and Becky Hart (Richard Tucker) of Gloversville; brothers Elvid Hart (Joan), Ronald Hart, Roy Hart (Donna); sisters Barbara Pitcher (Ed), Hazel Hart and Bonnie VanNostrand; grandchildren Zachary and Alicia Vaillancourt and Micheala and Mason Tucker. Floyd is predeceased by his brothers Clifford, Delbert and Emmett Hart. A service to celebrate Floyd's life will be held on Monday, April 18, 2106 11 A.M. at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main Street, Broadalbin with Rev. William Brower officiating. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Sunday, April 17 from 1-3 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Floyd's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 or to New York Oncology Hematology, 1700 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
