Obituary of Dorothy J. Beyer

Mrs. Dorothy J. "Dot" Beyer, age 88, of Amsterdam, passed away Saturday January 27, 2018 at Capstone Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Amsterdam. Born on June 20, 1929 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl Schmid. She is a graduate of Woestina High School. Dot was employed as a Nurses Aid by the former Montgomery County Infirmary in Amsterdam, retiring several years ago. She loved raising her family. She enjoyed her flower garden, embroidering, cooking, playing the organ and was a great singer. Dot was especially known for her pies which she shared with family and friends. In 1951 she married Emerson Beyer who passed away on June 18, 2003. Dot is survived by her two sons, Timothy G. Beyer of Amsterdam and James A. Beyer of Rotterdam; her two daughters, Bonnie L. (James) Brown of Middleburg, FL and Denise A. Beyer of Mayfield; two sisters, Beatrice Avery of St. Petersburg, FL and June Barie of Rensselaer; three grandchildren, John, Lisa and Vanessa; three great grandchildren, Emerson, Gabriel and Taylor; one great-great granddaughter, Luna. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding. Interment will be in the spring in Woestina Cemetery, Pattersonville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday prior to the funeral service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
