Obituary of Gilbert B. DeGraff
Gilbert B. DeGraff, 64 of Amsterdam passed away peacefully on Sunday January, 28 2018 with his loving companion at his side. He was suddenly stricken by a heart attack on January 13th, followed by a stroke from which he could not recover.
He was the son of the late Gilbert F. DeGraff and Mary (White) DeGraff Cornell. He was a lifelong area resident attending Amsterdam schools, graduating from Wilburt H Lynch in 1971.
Gib drove for Coleco Industries, and worked at General Electric for several years, and then for almost 38 years drove for Adirondack Trailways out of Albany.
He is survived by a few cousins the closest of which are Robert Preston of Hagaman and Diane (Preston) Juliano of Gloversville. He is also survived by his companion of over 44 years, Janice E. Mosher of Perth (Amsterdam.)
Per his request there will be no services, cremation will follow. Gib wanted to donate his body to medical research but was devastatingly not accepted by any organization due to their strict guidelines.
Gib and Jan wish to thank the amazing doctors, caring staff, and wonderful nurses of the 2nd floor ICU at Ellis Hospital.
Memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 would have made Gib very happy.
Gib was a funny, sweet, and simple guy. He loved NASCAR and working out with his weights. He lived for his yearly vacation to Maine where he was to retire this year with Jan. Gib loved his job, his vast Trailways family, all of his friends, family, and Jan. We hope you all feel lucky to have known him.
