Obituary of Carmen A. Perez

Carmen A. Perez, 78, of Stratton Apartments, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday October 30, 2016 at her home. Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on September 16, 1938 a daughter of Luis Perez and Fermina Caraballo. She attended school in Puerto Rico. Carmen attended nursing school in Puerto Rico and was employed as a nurse at the Municipal Hospital in Yauco. She also worked as a supervisor for Chicken of the Sea Tuna Co. in Ponce. When she came to Amsterdam she worked at the former Coleco Industries and Esquire Novelty. She enjoyed cooking and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Carmen also enjoyed playing bingo and collecting Elephants. She is survived by her Mother, Fermina Caraballo. Her loving children, Alexis (Theresa Barone) Lopez of Amsterdam, Mariano(Consuelo) Lopez of Puerto Rico, Carmen Ivette (Keith) Velez of Puerto Rico, Luis A.(Aurora) Lopez of Amsterdam, Wanda(David) Prew of Gloversville, NY, Lizzette (Wilfred Rosado) Lopez of Amsterdam, Iris(Jose) Marcano) Rivera of Amsterdam. Sisters and brothers, Gladys Perez, Maria Luisa Perez, Luis DeJesus Perez, Alberto Perez, Lucia Perez and Nancy Perez. Twenty cherished grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday November 3, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Funeral Services will follow at 11:15 A.M. Thursday with Fr. Jeffrey L'Arche officiating. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.
