Obituary of Shirley H. Knowlton

Mrs. Shirley H. Wilder Knowlton, age 76, of St. Johnsville, NY, died Saturday, December 24, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. She was born November 4, 1929 in Broadalbin, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Marion Richardson Wilder. Shirley lived in the Gloversville area most of her life. She was a member of Mayfield Center Community Church. She is survived by her husband, James E. Knowlton of St. Johnsville, NY; five children, David Surnear Sr. Peggy of Johnstown, Karen Surnear of Gloversville, Robin Surnear of Johnstown, Kevin Surnear Neda of Navarre, OH and Brian Surnear Janis of Ft. Worth, TX; a brother, Harold Wilder of Geneva, NY; a sister, Norma Claus of Mayfield; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her fiorst husband, Robert C. Surnear in 1963. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown, with the Rev. Matthew B. Splittgerber officiating.
