Obituary of Audrey B. Thyne

Mrs. Audrey B. Thyne, 84, of Johnstown died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at her residence. Born October 1, 1921 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Daisy Amelia Pester Batty. She was educated in Gloversville schools and graduated from the former Gloversville Business School. Mrs. Thyne was employed at various local businesses including; Robison & Smith, the former Martin & Naylor, Lerner's, Park-Snow, Kressge, Montgomery Ward and was also a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Thyne's Drug Store. Audrey was an avid bowler, participating in the Recreation and TAG leagues for many years and also was treasurer and secretary. She enjoyed the many tournaments she bowled in throughout the state. A former member of the Gloversville Episcopal Church, she also sang in the choir. She was married to William Thyne, June 14, 1952, he pre-deceased her in 1983. Survivors include her children, Andrew S. Thyne Rebecca Smith Thyne of North Syracuse and Melissa Thyne Des Moines late Albert Des Moines of Slingerlands; grandchildren, Amanda and Kevin Thyne, Sarah, Stacy, Holly, Samantha, Jason, Wendy and Benjamin Des Moines and nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1 pm from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 12 noon to 1 pm prior to the service. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
