Obituary of Francis J. Young
Mr. Francis J. Young Jr., 79, of Ridge Road, Canajoharie, passed away December 25, Christmas Day, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam on March 9, 1926 he was the son of the late Francis and Edna Richey Young. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Young worked for Liberty as a laborer. He liked bowling, gambling and loved his computer. He was a volunteer at the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. Mr. Young was also an avid Mets fan, and was well loved by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include one brother in law, Ken Cooper of Las Vegas, NV; six cousins, Pat Streeter of Amsterdam, Mary Wilcox and her husband David of Gloversville, Fred Mitchell and his wife, Jean, of Amsterdam, Donna Cook and her husband, Kenneth, of Amsterdam, Karen Kosinski and her husband, Dennis, of Baldwin City, Kansas and Lee Richey and his wife, Brenda of Wayland, New York; two nieces, Bobbee Anne Barnes and her husband, David, of San Jose, California and Donna Wooley and her husband, Adam, of Oren, Utah and three great nieces and three great nephews. Mr. Young is also survived by his loving Liberty family of housemates and staff.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 2p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Elaine Berg presiding. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 1 until 2. Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Foundation, P.O.
