Obituary of Joseph R. LaConte
Joseph R. LaConte, 80, of Maple Ave, Hagaman, NY passed away Thursday December 29, 2005 at Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam on June 2, 1925 he was a son of Joseph J. and Anna Castellesi LaConte. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1943.
He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the European Theatre in Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland.
Mr. LaConte worked for over 32 for the U.S. Postal Service in Amsterdam as a Rural Postal Carrier retiring in 1983.
He was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam, and was a member of the Columbian Social Club also in Amsterdam.
Joseph married Norma Hovemeyer LaConte on June 15, 1947 she passed away in 1952.
Survivor?s include three brothers; Salvatore V. LaConte and his wife Therese of Amsterdam, Vincent LaConte and his wife Vency of Naples, Fl., Thomas LaConte and his wife Kathy of Amsterdam. Four sisters; Angelina Fondacaro of Amsterdam, Theresa Testa & her husband Joe of Amsterdam, Mary Dlugolecki and her husband Walt of Rensselaer, NY and Josephine Bracchi and her husband John of Amsterdam.
Several Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 2, 2006 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with the Rev. James Gulley as celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday January 1, 2006 from 4-7P.M. at the funeral home. The Columbian Social Club will meet on Sunday at 6:30P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one?s choice c/o the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
