Obituary of Charles A. Sandner
Mr. Charles A. Sandner, 82, of Benson, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Mr. Sandner was born in Gloversville on January 25, 1923, son of the late Berte and Grace Pyne Sandner. He was educated in Gloversville schools and a Navy veteran of W.W. II. His career in the plumbing and heating business continued the Pyne & Sandner family business founded by his grandfather. Early in his career, Mr. Sandner was one of the youngest master plumbers in New York state. He retired in 1985. Chuck was involved in Benson politics for 36 years serving as councilman, town clerk, tax collector and committeeman during that period. He was also a member of the Northville American Legion, Gloversville VFW, a life member of the DAV, the Bleecker Community Church and a dedicated member of the committee establishing the World War II memorial in Gloversville. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Frederick Sandner of Benson, which he married on December 15, 1943; two daughters, Cheryl Eddy and her husband Frank and Ellen Sandner. He is also survived by four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mr. Sandner was predeceased by a brother, Richard Sandner.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service for fellowship and sharing will be held Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 1:30 pm at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
