Obituary of Robert P. Shaffer

Mr. Robert P. Shaffer, 54 years old, of James Street, died Tuesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital. Mr. Shaffer was born August 6, 1951 in Amsterdam, a son of Joseph and Anna Schramm Shaffer and was a life long resident of Amsterdam. He had worked as a Nurse?s Aide for many years. Mr. Shaffer was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Shaffer is survived by his son, Shawn G. Shaffer of Amsterdam; his daughter, Renae L. Shaffer of Amsterdam; 2 brothers, Joseph Shaffer, of Amsterdam and Michael Shaffer of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his sister, Ann Gugliemelli of Amsterdam and 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Shawn and Geovanni Torres, Jai Isaac and Carson Shaffer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Shaffer was predeceased by a brother, David Shaffer. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral service from 12 noon until 1:00pm.
