Obituary of Elvira Fusco
Elvira ?Vera? Fusco, 79, of Northern Blvd., Hagaman, passed away peacefully Thursday evening following a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Amsterdam on June 3, 1926 a daughter of Joseph and Mary Tambucci DeSorbo. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.
Mrs. Fusco was employed for over 30 years as a glove maker at the Fownes Bros. Mills in Amsterdam. She later worked in her retirement for her family?s business Cronies Restaurant in Hagaman, New York. She was well known for the Rice Pudding Desserts that she made for the Sunday dinner specials at the restaurant.
Mrs. Fusco was an avid fan of her grandson Michael?s stock car racing at Fonda Speedway and would rarely miss a race. She also enjoyed traveling and family vacations and above all spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was a Communicant of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman. She was also a member of the St. Michael?s Seniors and was part of the Seniors Bocce Club.
Mrs. Fusco married Vincent J. Fusco Sr. on December 2, 1951.
In addition to her beloved husband survivors include one son, Vincent J. Fusco Jr. and his wife Deborah of Broadalbin, New York; two daughters- JoAnn Ryczek and her husband Daniel of Hagaman, NY and Mary Beth Rockefeller and her husband Richard of Gloversville, NY; one sister, Geraldine Fraumane Fisle and her husband Harold of Florida; four Grandsons-Jason Ryczek and his wife Jill, Michael Fusco, Timothy and Joshua Ryczek and one Granddaughter, Kelly Fusco. Several Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 16, 2006 at 10:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00A.M. at St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church, Pawling St. Hagaman with Father Ronald Matulewicz as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The St. Michael?s Seniors will meet at 6:00P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude?s Children?s Research Hospital. The Fusco Family wishes to thank the 3rd Floor Nurses and Staff of St. Clare?s Hospital for the wonderful care given to Vera.
