Obituary of David B. Berger
Mr. David B. Berger, age 64, passed away on January 16, 2006 at his home in the town of Northampton.
He was born July 31, 1941 in Gloversville, the son of the late Milton E. Berger and Harriette Weissman Berger. He graduated from Gloversville High School and served in the Navy from 1960 ? 1964. He returned to Gloversville where he worked at Milton Berger Trading. For a short time, he worked in Geneva, NY for a theater chain. He married Susan Polcek in 1968 and returned to Gloversville. He worked for the Coleco Industries before attending and graduating from FMCC, where he was the commencement speaker. He graduated from Syracuse University at Utica and received a Master?s Degree from Albany State, and later became the director at the JCC in Mobile, Alabama.
David returned to Gloversville from Alabama and began his teaching career as an adult education director for several years. He was probably proudest of becoming GEM/GED Teacher, and was dedicated to his students.
David loved many things, including NASCAR Rusty Wallace, collecting Coca Cola antiques, and Elvis memorabilia. David still believed in the Jets.
He was predeceased by his parents and first wife, Susan. He is survived by his wife, Lois Dzuba Baker Berger; his son, Seth E. Berger of Saratoga; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Berger of Saratoga; his daughter, Alexis Berger Turcotte and her husband Joseph Turcotte of Schuylerville; his sister, Debora A. Berger of Saratoga; his beloved grandsons, Eric A. Berger and Gill Conners of Saratoga; his mother-in-law, Julia; sister-in-law, Karen and her husband Mark, and sister-in-law Diane; brother-in-law John and wife Mary; sister-in-law Laurie and husband Rick; niece Shannon; nephews Sean and his wife Tracey, and Thomas; nieces Ashleigh and Skyler, and beloved pets.
Thank you to Nathan Littauer Hospital third floor nurse for their compassion. Thank you also to the Mountain Valley Hospice, the Family Practice Office, Oncology Associates of NE NY, and the Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
David would have wanted all his present and past students to know how important they were to him. Their notes to him were very meaningful.
