Obituary of Joanna L. DeCarlo
Mrs. Joanna L. ?Tee-die? DeCarlo, 84, of Albert Street, Amsterdam passed away at St. Mary?s Hospital Wednesday evening after a long illness.
Mrs. DeCarlo was born in Amsterdam on May 6, 1921 at the family home on Albert Street. She attended local schools and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. DeCarlo was a homemaker who lived to cook and loved her family dearly. During her whole life her home was the center for her family to gather and she was the inspiration of their lives.
Mrs. DeCarlo was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
She married Anthony DeCarlo, Sr. on November 7, 1943. That union lasted 37 years until his passing on December 13, 1980.
Mrs. DeCarlo was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Marita DeCarlo and Anthony Debra DeCarlo; three daughters, Patricia Earl, Laurie Walt Dostie and Amy Ron Bubniak; one brother, Louis Connie DiCaterino and one sister, Nancy Viscosi, all of Amsterdam. Twelve cherished grandchildren, thirteen beloved great grand children and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 8:15am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Interment will take place in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 5 until 8 on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Montgomery County Office of the Aging or to G.A.V.A.C.
