Obituary of Angela Oakes

Mrs. Angela ?Nellie? Oakes, 85, of Amsterdam, died Thursday at home following a brief illness. She was born March 12, 1920 in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine Olszowy Ciulik. Mrs. Oakes was educated in Amsterdam schools and was a graduate of Wilbur Lynch High School. She had been employed in the office at Mohasco Industries for 30 years, retiring in 1985. A quiet and devoted family person, she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Recently, she was blessed with a great granddaughter. On June 30, 1943 she married William ?Sewey? Oakes who pre-deceased her in 2003. Survivors include her children, Thomas J. Oakes and his wife Darlene, Timothy J. Oakes and his wife Kathleen both of Amsterdam and Constance R. Konik and her husband John of Caroga Lake. She is also survived by a sister, Connie Moore of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Angela was pre-deceased by three sisters, Henrietta Ciulik, Helen Ciulik and Sister Ann Marie Ciulik of the Felician Sisters Order. She was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Jacob Ciulik and Reverend Joseph Ciulik. Calling hours and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of her family.
