Obituary of Albert Malkowich
Albert J. Malkowich, 85, formerly of Cochrane St., Amsterdam, New York, passed away Tuesday February 7, 2006 at his daughter?s home in Houston, Texas.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 28, 1920 a son of Joseph and Eva Tomosawicz Malkowich. He was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He lived in Amsterdam most of his life until moving to Texas along with his wife in October of 2005. Mr. Malkowich was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Amsterdam as a Letter Carrier for over 35 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many sports activities. He also coached Little League Baseball in Amsterdam. He was a member of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Lyons Malkowich of Houston, Texas. Devoted children, David Malkowich and his wife Donna of East Amherst, NY, Lynn Austin and her husband Bob of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren, Brett Malkowich of Denver, CO, Lauren Malkowich of Bloomington, Indiana, Jeremy Austin of College Station, Texas and Gregg Austin of Houston, Texas. One niece, Ellen Novak and nephew Gerald Moskal of Scotia, New York. Several cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 11, 2006 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00A.M. at St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam. Interment will be in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday Today February 10, 2006 from 5:00-8:00P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 2636 South Loop West, Suite 210, Houston, Texas 77054.
