Obituary of Nettie M. Dickenson

Mrs. Nettie M. Winchell Dickenson, age 89, of Gloversville, entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, February 17, 2006 with her loving family at her side at Nathan Littauer Hospital Gloversville. Nettie was born June 5, 1916 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late James and Abbie Sweet Winchell. She was a 1936 graduate of Gloversville High School. Her employment over the years included the former Westbrook Glove Company and the former MCA Record Company. Mrs. Dickenson was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Berkshire Fire Dept. Auxilary, and was active in the former Berkshire School PTA. She enjoyed playing the banjo-mandolin and the violin. Nettie was married on January 22, 1949 to Marvin J. Dickenson who died October 18, 1998. She is survived by three daughters, Rosalind M. Acquilla Ralph, Sandra L. Jackson Robert and Barbara A. Rhodes Richard all of Gloversville; a stepson, Joseph Dickenson Sr. Joann of Lassellsville; a sister, Elvirah A. Weaver of Gloversville; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 niece, 1 nephew, several cousins, and her beloved Cat, Venus. She was preceded In death by her sister, Arline E. Winchell. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at St. James Lutheran Church, Gloversville, with the Rev. David AlmLeaf officiating.
