Obituary of Leora B. Peeler
Leora B. Peeler, 91, formerly of Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, New York, died Saturday morning at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility where she has resided for 10 years.
Born May 23, 1914, in Johnstown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Jennie Drumm Brothers. She was a resident of Fonda, New York from 1964 until moving to Tribes Hill, New York in 1983.
Leora was employed as an inspector for the Sutton Glove Shop in Johnstown, New York for a number of years.
She was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church, the Glen-Mohawk Senior Citizens of Fonda and the Iroquois Senior Citizens of Tribes Hill.
At one time Leora enjoyed knitting afghans, walking around Fonda and going on senior citizen bus trips.
On April 7, 1942 she first married Alton Joyce, who died August 18, 1958 and on April 7, 1962 she married Chester Peeler, who died June 19, 1983.
Survivors include a son, John Joyce and his wife Gloria of Frankfort, New York; a daughter, Mary Perretta and her husband David of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Eleanor Gray of Broadalbin; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at 1:00 pm at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, New York with the Rev. Christopher DeGraaf officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Avenue Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral from 12 noon to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
