Obituary of Emily Mary Zammit

Emily Mary Zammit, 89, of Division Street, Amsterdam, passed away at the Wilkinson R.C.H.F. Born on October 7, 1916 in Alexandria, Egypt she was the daughter of the late Spiro and Elvira Centonze Zammit. She attended schools in Egypt before moving to Amsterdam in 1939. Ms. Zammit worked for Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, in the Housekeeping Department for over 24 years. She retired in 1984 with the title of Supervisor. She was a member of the Horace J. Inman Seniors, and a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. Ms. Zammit was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Poulin and Ann Theresa Arman. Survivors include, two nieces, Marjorie Bennet of England and Jane Hyjek of Florida; five nephews, Robert Poulin of Amsterdam, John, George, and Raymond Arman of England, and Douglass Arman of Australia; one great niece, Stephanie Alfred Kear; and two great nephews, Stephen and Justin Poulin; and 5 great grand nieces and nephews, Ceara, Stephen, Dean, Zada, and Kendall Poulin. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 7 at 8:15a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15a.m. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Ft. Johnson. Calling hours will be held Monday evening 6 until 8p.m. at the funeral home.
