I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. I used to work with him at the Coca Cola Plant around 1959 and 1960. My dad Harold "Cy" Aldrich worked there too I believe that John was at my mother and fathers 50th wedding anniversary party. It was good to see him. He treated me as though I were as much of a friend as my dad was to him. The last time I saw John was at my dad's funeral in Schuylerville in 1990. Again, I am so sorry for the loss of a good man.

I first met gramps in 1992 when his Grandson Jason and I were home on leave from the Navy. I remember commenting on how steep his stairs were and how high up the apartment was. He told me ?That?s to remind me that I?m right on top of things?. And he was too.
Then when Jason hosted a 90th birthday party for him, someone got playful and a small food fight ensued. Afterwards I asked him if any of had hit him and he said very dryly: ?Yes, but it just bounced off? while making a slight wave at the wrist.
Finally in October last year I was out getting a quick run in and gramps was walking down his driveway with a rake. I stopped to talk with him, we discussed the weather and how things were going, along with recent happenings in Gloversville. Then after a while he said he would ?Go out running with me, but he has all this raking yet to do.?
We?ll all miss gramps, a very humorous yet very distinguished man.

Denny, Joanne, and girls, I'm sorry to hear of your loss,I still remember the day's of him being on the back door at Price Chopper. John always had a good word to say for everyone. Sorry I could not stop at the funeral home to pay my respects as I had a previous commitment during viewing hours. May god bless your family during this difficult time.

Almost every Sunday morning for many years, I would look out from the choir loft at North Main St. Methodist church and find Mr. Hinman seated in his place in the pews. After church, he would likely be found in fellowship hall enjoying coffee, cookies and conversation. For me he represents the quintessential gentleman. In talking with him, both at church and when visiting him in the hospital or at the nursing homes, he never had an unkind word for anyone. His family was his joy and consolation. Ever devoted to his wife, he visited her daily until her death; her photograph and those of his children and grandchildren were always with him. His generosity to the church resulted in several needed and appreciated gifts. His greatest gift to us though, was that positive spirit which he shared with us all. He will be missed and respectfully remembered.
