Obituary of James P. Uncher
James P. Uncher, 82, of High Rock Avenue, passed away Friday at the Saratoga Hospital.Born April 5, 1923 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of Joseph and Josephine Unczuricz Uncher. He lived most of his life in Amsterdam until moving to Saratoga Springs in 1992.Jim was a US Army Veteran of WWII.He was employed as a foreman in the Turbine Department at General Electric Company in Schenectady.He was a communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church where he also served as an usher and was a member of the American Legion.Jim was married for 61 years to the former Dorothy Sajta, who died December 16, 2003.Survivors include his loving family; a son Thomas Uncher and his companion Jane of Saratoga Springs; three daughters, Carole and her husband Peter W. Kenny of Eatontown, New Jersey, Jacqueline Uncher of Rochester and Donna M. Uncher and her companion John of Saratoga Springs; two grandchildren, Patrick W. and his wife Kate Kenny of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Karen A. Dettlinger and her husband Michael of Brielle, New Jersey; one great granddaughter, Molly Kate Dettlinger; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 8:45 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 am at the St. Casimir?s Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Stanley Swierzowski as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made in Jim?s memory to Hospice of Saratoga County, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
