Obituary of Doris Eileen Carpenter Hitchcock
Doris Eileen Carpenter Hitchcock, 77, of State Hwy 30A, Fultonville, New York passed away Saturday March 11, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Fultonville, New York on September 2, 1928 a daughter of Milton and Luella Hoffman Carpenter. She was a lifelong Fultonville and Town of Glen area resident. She attended Fultonville Schools.
Mrs. Hitchcock worked for several years at the Templeton Glove Company and later for the Fonda Fultonville Central School retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Glen Reformed Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher and as a member of the Women?s Guild. Mrs. Hitchcock enjoyed reading, embroidery and travel.
She married Howard Edward Hitchcock on October 19, 1946.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Mark Hitchcock of Johnstown, New York; three daughters, Luella Hitchcock of Broadalbin, Carolyn Emerson of Campton, New Hampshire and Rhoda Espinoza and her husband Marty of Grand Forks, North Dakota; five sisters, Helen Quackenbush of Wayne, New York, Grace Blair of Fultonville, New York, Rhoda Morse of Hudson Falls, New York, Lena Jones of Johnstown and Phyllis Calkins of Fultonville, New York and two brothers, John Jack Carpenter of Georgia and Edward Carpenter of Seffner, Florida. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Kenneth Carpenter, and two sisters, Gertrude Potter and Geraldine Carpenter.
Nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her stepmother Stella Carpenter of Ft. Hunter also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:00AM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, New York with the Rev. Stacey Midge of the Glen Reformed Church presiding. Interment will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Reformed Church, 1526 State Highway 161, Fultonville, NY 12072 or to the Glen Volunteer Fire Department, 134 Auriesville Rd., Fultonville, NY 12072.
