Obituary of Joshua H. Davis
Joshua H. Davis, age 20, of Gloversville, died suddenly on Saturday, March 18, 2006 in Johnstown. He was at home for spring break from his college studies.
He was born August 13, 1985 in at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, Oceanside, California. Joshua attended the Rainbow Play School, Park Terrace Elementary School, Estee and Gloversville Middle Schools, and was a 2003 graduate of Gloversville High School. Also a graduate of Fulton Montgomery Community College in 2005, Joshua was awarded ?the most distinguished graduate? of the multi media department, having received his associate?s degree from that department. He was currently attending Utica College, majoring in communication arts. He received numerous awards throughout his education, including Who?s Who in American High School Students, and was Homecoming King at GHS.
Joshua loved to play soccer, and did so for many years. He also ran track and received many medals for the 100 meter dash. An avid movie buff, he loved Bruce Lee films. He was a counselor at the Jewish Community Center. He loved working with the children, and the children loved him. He was currently a counselor at the YMCA in Utica.
He is survived by his parents, Robert B. and Joanne Pecorino Davis; his brothers, Benjamin and Andrew Davis; his sister, Brittany Davis, all of Gloversville; his grandparents, Josephine Pecorino and the late Tony Pecorino Sr; and Bruce and Merry Lou Davis; his uncles, Tony Pecorino Jr; Rebecca of Middle Grove, Michael Pecorino Eva of Cocoanut Creek, FL; and Paul Pecorino of New York City; his aunts, Pamela Molden Walt of Melbourne, FL; Rosemary Soriero Anthony of Lawernseville, NJ; and Bonnie Scott of Edinburg; several cousins, grand aunts, and grand uncles. His longtime friends are Casey Oare, Ian Lewis, Adam Gendron, Ben Shultz, Jay Dorn and many, many more that were a part of his life.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville. Interment will take place in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the David Van Santen Scholarship Fund which is for day camp use, c/o the Jewish Community Center, 28 E. Fulton St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
