Obituary of Anna Mae Snyder

Anna Mae Parry Snyder, R.N., 78, of Meadow St., Tribes Hill, New York, gently passed away Wednesday evening March 22, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam, with her loving brother Donald and her beloved son Glenn at her side. Born in Amsterdam, New York on July 15, 1927, the daughter of Edward R. and Angeline Zacharias Parry, she was a lifelong resident of Tribes Hill. She was a 1945 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Anna Mae went on to graduate from the Amsterdam City Hospital School of Nursing via the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps following World War II. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for Amsterdam Memorial Hospital until her retirement. A very compassionate, loving nurse, Anna Mae had a special affection for newborn babies and children. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and radiant love for all. Anna Mae and Ed resided during the winter in Naples, Florida at the Holiday Manor Co-op. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and spent many fun times swimming in the pool. Anna Mae and Ed enjoyed the music of the park band, The Holiday Jammers, and loved to dance! She was an avid swimmer and a ?bathing beauty? at the Amsterdam YMCA. She was a member of the ?Pill Pushers? bowling team, the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Nurses? Alumni, the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, the Iroquois Seniors, and the Par-Nil Golf Social Club. She enjoyed traveling, sometimes with her friends, and especially the 1989 cross-country trip with her husband. But most of all Anna Mae loved spending time with her cherished children and grandchildren. She married her beloved husband of over 54 years, Edward O. Snyder, on September 15, 1951. In addition to her husband, survivors include four children: Linda L. Snyder of Schenectady, New York; Carol A. Buddles and her husband James R. of Amsterdam; Mark E. Snyder and companion Mary Beth Wainright of Scotia, New York; and Glenn A. Snyder and his wife Ann of Fort Hunter, New York. Survivors also include Anna Mae?s cherished grandchildren, Megan A. Snyder, Nathanael Nate J. Snyder, and Corey A. Snyder, all of Ft. Hunter; one brother, Donald E. Parry and his wife Phyllis of Tribes Hill, New York; one brother-in-law, Robert Snyder and his wife Shirley of Ft. Johnson, New York; nieces, nephews, cousins; and two ?sisters of the heart?, Alice Gill and Ruth McMullen also survive. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Richard E. Parry and William Parry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 1:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 26, 2006 from 3-6PM at the funeral home. Interment will be later in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anna Mae?s name to the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, NY 12177, to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny?s Corners Rd., Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Capital District Cancer Resource Foundation in care of New York Oncology Hematology, Amsterdam, NY 12010
