Obituary of Marvin H. Austin
Mr. Marvin H. Austin, 77 of State Highway 30, Vail Mills Amsterdam died Saturday at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
He was born February 25, 1929 in Van Hornsville, son of the late Howard and Gladys Eutermarks Austin.
Mr. Austin owned and operated Austin?s ?Flying A? Service Station and Austin Enterprises in Vail Mills. He was a mechanic all his life, and a well known successful stock car driver at Fonda Speedway where he was elected to the Hall of Fame. Early in his life he had also been an Olympic skeet shooter.
He was married December 4, 1949 to Freda L. Brooker Austin who died February 7, 2006.
Survivors include his children: Carney E. Austin of Bellingham, Massachusetts, Amber M. Marcais of Vail Mills, Sherry A. Weiderman of Broadalbin, Timothy A. Austin of Mayfield, Susan M. Mattas of Amsterdam, Todd L. Austin of Vail Mills, and Kim L. Johnson of Broadalbin. He is also survived by a brother; Bryant Austin of Ft. Plain, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and several half brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main Street Broadalbin. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Basil?s Ukrainian Cemetery, Broadalbin.
