Obituary of Deborah J. Turling-Reed
Deborah J. Turling ?Reed, 56, of Avon, Connecticut, beloved wife of David J. Reed, went to dance with the angels on Wednesday March 29th.
Born in Amsterdam on July 10, 1949, daughter of Walter T. and Nancy Turling of Fort Plain, New York. Debbie received her sacraments at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain, graduated from Fort Plain High School, Class of 1967, and Fisher Junior College in Boston, Class of 1969. Deborah was the Executive Administrative Assistant to Peter J. Deckers, M.D., Executive Vice President at UCONN Health Center Affairs, and Dean of the School of Medicine. Her long association with Dr. Deckers has spanned over thirty years, from 1976 to the present, from Boston to Farmington. Debbie operated a crafting business, Three?s A Charm, in honor of the late Dale Earnhardt. She was an avid NASCAR fan, a strong sports aficionado, a lifelong Red Sox fan and the type of woman who would stay home for the game.
She loved to dance the two-step and was the queen of her castle.
Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by her sister, Jan E. Turling of Amsterdam; her aunt, Harriett Cooper, of Naples, Florida; and her cousins, Betsey Cooper of Miami and Patty Payne of Amsterdam.
Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 pm at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Unionville, Connecticut.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday at 12 noon at St. Casimir?s Church, 260 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 11, Amsterdam, 12010. The family has entrusted her arrangements to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam.
