Obituary of Carmen Julia Oliveras
Carmen Oliveras, 77, of Amsterdam NY, passed away on Friday November 11th, 2016 with her loving family by her side.
Born on November 9th, 1939, in Yauco Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Ramona Velez and Juan Oliveras. Carmen attended schools in Puerto Rico and moved to the area with her family in 1982. She began a family with the love of her life Nelson Battistini in August 1954.
Carmen loved music and enjoyed dancing very much. She loved to cook especially for family events. She loved watching old movies and never missed her Spanish soap operas. She had a very big heart and took in and helped many people over the years that see her as a second mother. She was always happy and always had a smile on her face. She will be deeply missed and her memory will be forever cherished by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Carmen is survived by her beloved husband Nelson Battistini; her daughters, Yiyi, Tata, Clary, Damaris, and Nani; her sons, Miguel, Chepo, Willie, Papo, Frankie, Berto, Jose, Tito, and Boro; her sisters, Lolita and Elisa; her brothers, Juan, Frankie, and Elias; her forty grandchildren; and her forty three great grandchildren. Many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Carmen is predeceased by her parents Ramona and Juan Oliveras; her daughters, Maria and Olga; her sister Amelia; and her brothers, Mingo, Carlino, and Macho.
A Funeral Service for Carmen will be held on Tuesday November 15th at 1 p.m. at Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 11am to 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service and take place at St. Michael Cemetery, Widow Susan Road, Amsterdam, NY.
