Obituary of Irving Hyden
Irving Hyden, 87, of Wilkes Avenue, Amsterdam, died Saturday morning April 8, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Bronx, NY on February 15, 1919 he was a son of Abraham and Yetta Greenstein Hyden. He grew up in the Bronx and graduated high school. He was an accomplished amateur boxer. He fought in high school and in the military. In 1940 he competed in the Golden Gloves competition in New York City.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Following the war Mr. Hyden moved to Amsterdam, NY where he founded, owned and operated the former Mohawk Dress, Inc. until retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue in Amsterdam. Mr. Hyden loved gardening and enjoyed his family and friends.
On august 22, 1943 he married the former Dina Ziman who survives.
Survivor?s also include; two sons, Steven D. Hyden of Tampa, FL; Robert H. Hyden of Delanson, NY.; his daughter-in-law, Maria M. Hyden; a sister, Molly Goodman of Albany, NY; and his granddaughter, Amy Hyden of Tampa, FL. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday April 11, 2006 at 11:00A.M. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue, 355 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the synagogue.
Burial will be in Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Cranesville, NY. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny?s Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
