Obituary of Dawn C. Agnes

Dawn C. Agnes, 51, of Amsterdam NY, has been called back home to our heavenly father on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 with her loving family at her side. Born on February 14th, 1965, she was the daughter of Donna M. Luce and Carl E. Gottier. Dawn was a Tolland High School graduate Class of 1983. She went on to attend the University of Connecticut and earn an associate's degree. She married the love of her life and best friend Mark W. Agnes on April 4th, 1992. In 1999 Dawn and her family relocated to the area. They settled on a farm in Amsterdam where she remained for 17 years as a proud and dedicated Dairy Farmer. Dawn also spent some time as a substitute teacher for Fonda-Fultonville Central School. Dawn loved to garden and adored working on her farm; she had a deep love for the animals. She also dedicated more than 30 years as a 4H Leader both in Connecticut and in New York. Of all the roles she played none mattered to her more than being a mother. Her family was her world and they will lovingly remember her for being caring, giving, dedicated, and above all loving. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Dawn is survived by her beloved husband Mark; her daughters, Emma Rose Agnes and Annie Elizabeth Agnes; her parents Donna and Carl Gottier; her brothers, Carl Gottier Jr. and Charlie (Karen) Gottier; her nephew Garrett Dillon Gottier; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service for Dawn will be held on Wednesday November 16th, 2016 at 7pm at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4-7pm on Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to help establish The Dawn C. Agnes Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks may be made payable to Karen Gottier, 575 Snooks Corner Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010. The fund is being created to help local students interested in agriculture.
