Obituary of Hazel B. Cooper
Hazel B. Cooper, 96, of Florida Ave, Amsterdam passed away Thursday morning April 13, 2006 at the E.L Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, New York on January 2, 1910 a daughter of Delbert and Nellie Blood Cooper. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident. Mrs. Cooper was a 1928 Graduate of Amsterdam High School and was the Valedictorian of her class.
She worked for the former New York Telephone Company in Amsterdam in the Business Office for over 50 years retiring in 1975.
She was a life member of the First Reformed Church in Amsterdam. She was a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Sir William Johnson Seniors. Mrs. Cooper was also a literacy volunteer.
She was pre-deceased by five brothers: Clifford Cooper, Lester Cooper, Arthur Cooper, Robert Cooper and William Cooper and three sisters: Esther Lampkin, Miss Florence Cooper and Grace Lockwood.
Nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins survive.
Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment of cremated remains will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Reformed Church, Arch Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
