Obituary of Bernice Cozad

Bernice Cozad, 83, of Grand Street, passed away Tuesday evening at her home with her son at her side. Born in Amsterdam, New York on Jan. 19, 1923, the last surviving child of Frank and Agusta Gray Wuellner. She moved to Burlington, Iowa in 1937 and graduated from Burlington High School. Upon her marriage she returned to Amsterdam where she has since resided. Bernice was employed by Chalmer?s Knitting Mill and later as a seamstress for the former Hanover Manufacturing before she retired in 1987. Bernice was an active member and past board member of the Inman Senior Center as well as a past president of the St. Stanislaus? Seniors. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and at one time sang in the choir of the former Zion Evangelical Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Bernice had a strong faith in God and her family and friends meant the world to her. She truly enjoyed every moment spent with them. On November 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Dale E. Cozad. He predeceased her on July 1, 2000. Her loving family includes her son Clifford Cozad of Syracuse; her granddaughters, Danielle and her husband Joseph Hamilton, and Shana and her husband Richard Rini; great-grandchildren, Catherine and Henry and Abigail Hamilton, as well as nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends survive. Services will take place Saturday at 1:30 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue with the Rev. Roland ?Mac? McDonald officiating. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church or Community Hospice of Amsterdam, both in care of the funeral home. Bernice?s family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Michael Sheridan and the staff of Hospice for all their care and concern for her.
