Obituary of Jean M. Hall
Mrs. Jean M. Hall, 81 years old, formerly of Arnold Avenue, died Tuesday at Montgomery Meadows where she had been a patient since November of last year. She was born June 28, 1924 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Charles and Mary Buck Lownds. Mrs. Hall was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1942, and was a life long resident of the Amsterdam area. She had been employed by the Greater Amsterdam School District in the data entry department. Mrs. Hall was a member of St. Ann?s Episcopal Church, its Alter Guild and the Episcopal Church Women. Jean had served on the Vestry of the Church, was secretary of the Church and served as a Warden. In high school she held the title of City of Amsterdam tennis champion.
She married Richard G. Hall June 1, 1957. He died in 1993. Mrs. Hall is survived by two sons, Michael A. Hall and his wife Gail of Amsterdam and Stephen C. Hall of Amsterdam; three grandchildren, Ashley, Michael and Nathaniel Hall all of Amsterdam; her brother-in-law, William O. Carey of Lady Lake, Florida and her sister-in law, Dorothy Hall of Saratoga Springs, New York. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 noon until 1:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann?s Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
