I played basketball under Dick for 4 years at Amsterdam H.S., where he served as JV and assistant varsity coach. He was highly respected for both his toughness and his deep respect for the fundamentals of the game. We had a lot of success during those years and Dick's committment played a large part in it. Years later I came to realize how proud he was of his players and of his role in shaping their character, both on and off the floor. I wish I had taken the time, before his passing, to tell him how much I appreciated his efforts on behalf of hundreds of young men like myself and what a tremendous positve impact he has had on myself and so many others. Dick, I hope it is not to late to say "thank you".

Dick will truly be missed. Having coached with him at AHS for many years I got to know him quite well. Having him as a friend was an honor that I will always remember. Thoughts and prayers are with his family in their time of sorrow.

Bea -
On behalf of the entire McGibbon family, please accept our most sincere condolences on the loss of someone so dear. We all loved and admired Dick. I remember visiting your home as a child. We always looked forward to those days because you lived "in the country" and we could run around and play in the yard for hours. You and Dick made us feel so welcome. Then I used to run into Dick at the grocery store every week and we would catch up on family matters. We will all miss him terribly. What a wonderful man!

Mr. Ruback was a friend indeed. We grew up at the old WHLHS with Mr. Ruback our teacher and friend. We only saw each other at classreunions but nothing ever changed. He remembered us not only by name but by our children and grandchildren. We will deeply miss him.

We met Dick about 49 years ago, shortly after he and Bea were married. We lived next door. Over the years we moved away, but every Sunday in Church, Dick's greeting was always, "Hello, Neighbor." We will truly miss our neighbor. God Bless you Dick. With love, Fred, Eve and Linda
