Obituary of Betty M. LaFountain

Mrs. Betty M. Gardner LaFountain, age 75, formerly of Gloversville, died Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006 at her home in Johnstown, following a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving son, daughter and son-in-law. She was born January 16, 1931 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura Grant Gardner. She was employed by Espey Electronics for over 30 years. Betty was a member of Court Mayflower of Gloversville. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and watching the birds and butterflies in her yard. Her special times were those spent with her late husband, children and granddaughter, and also with her cat. Betty was married on November 30, 1952 to Harvey L. LaFountain who died November 23, 2000. She is survived by three children, Thomas J. LaFountain of Utica, Dennis J. LaFountain Gail Clute of Gloversville and Nancy E. Blowers Richard of Johnstown; a brother, the Rev. Donald Gardner of Cambridge, NY; a granddaughter, Kasey LaFountain; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Gardner. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Legacy Candle Ceremony will take place at 7:45 pm Friday. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady.
