Obituary of Vera M. Zannitto
Fonda, NY—Vera M. Zannitto, 93, former resident of Hickory Hill Road, Fonda, passed away Thursday morning, December 8, 2016, at The Capital Living Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre in Schenectady after being a resident for 2 years.
Born October 13, 1923 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late George and Louise Holzer Eckart. She was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1941. She moved to Fonda in 1947 where she has since lived. Vera was employed at the Primier Glove Company in Fultonville for 15 years and later she worked at the Victory Supermarket in Fonda for 15 years until retiring in 1984.
She was a Parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda.
Vera enjoyed her home and raising her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and her favorite author was Danielle Steele.
On November 16, 1946 she married Joseph M. Zannitto who passed away April 23, 1998. Survivors include her loving family, two daughters, Cherryl Zannitto of Schenectady and Joann (Ted) Karis of Schenectady; a sister, Hazel Hay of Amsterdam; two grandsons, Scott Dillenbeck and John Dillenbeck; three great granddaughters, Kasey, Taylor, and Leah; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vera was predeceased by her siblings, Arthur, Meriulan, Elsie and Chester.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with Rev. Pascal Iannotti presiding. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
