Obituary of Bettye C. Maidment

Bettye C. Maidment, 89 of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born March 3, 1927 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Lansing Beck and Bertha Ruff Beck. Bettye was a 1944 graduate of Gloversville High School. She was employed in the office of Alexette Glove Corporation, Dr. Merol E. Brickner, Peter's Oil Company, Nethaway & Sons and Northeastern Realty Corporation. Bettye was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2077 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 337. She was a longtime member of Bleecker Community Church in Gloversville. Survivors include her beloved husband William "Al" Maidment whom she married February 14, 1998; sons Ronald Springstead and Richard Springstead; brother Milton Beck (Margaret); sister Helen Wicksell (Harry); sister-in-law Arlene Lee (Robert); grandchildren Shaylyn Springstead, Jennifer Phillips (Robert), Timothy Springstead, Ryan Phillips, Glen Springstead and Karyn Bergen (Robert); great grandchildren Allysa Baldwin, Blake Bergen, Cade Bergen and Kaden Springstead; step-daughters Sally Gieseler, Susan Quick, Sheila Ellis and Sheri Caseau. Bettye is predeceased by her husband of 47 years Robert J. Springstead, infant son James Robert Springstead; Brother Robert Beck; step-daughter Sandra Maidment and step-father Emmett Shepard. A memorial service to celebrate Bettye's life will take place on Saturday, December 17, 2016, 2 P.M. at Bleecker Community Church, 503 County Highway 112, Gloversville, NY 12078 with Rev. Kathy Reese officiating. Burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Bettye's memory to the Bleecker Community Church General Fund, 503 County Highway 112, Gloversville, NY 12078 or to a charity of one's choice.
